All of you have seen number of vehicle plates like white, yellow, black and red etc. in cars or other vehicles on the road in your daily life. But by looking at those number plates do you understand that which colour's plate belongs to which officer/authority; if no than this article will help you in this regard.
1. Red Color Number Plate:
This type of plate is used for the President of India and Governors of various states. In such vehicles, the license number is replaced by the "Emblem of India". It is important to mention here that the number plate of Prime Minister of India’s car is of white color, like a common men's car.
2. Blue number plate:
The blue number plate is given to a vehicle that is used by foreign delegates/ambassdors. The number is written on this plate by the white ink. This plate uses code of the country the diplomats belongs to instead of code of the state of India. These types of plates are used by foreign embassies or foreign diplomats.
3. White Color Number Plate:
If the number is written with a black ink on a white number plate, it means that the car belongs to a common citizen. It is worth to mention that the vehicle bearing the white number plate can't be used for commercial purposes. It means that you cannot hire passengers or freight from this vehicle.
4. Yellow Color Plate:
If the number of vehicle is written with a black ink on a yellow plate, then such vehicle is called a commercial vehicle. This type of colour you have seen in the truck / taxi etc. This type of vehicle can be used for carrying passengers or freight (i.e.Uber and Ola cabs or trucks and buses). It is mandatory for all truck / taxi drivers to have a commercial driving license to drive such commercial vehicles.
5. Yellow Color Plate:
If the number of vehicle is written on a yellow plate with black ink, then such vehicle is called a commercial vehicle. This type of colour you must have seen in the Truck / Taxi etc. This type of vehicle can be used for carrying passengers or freight (e.g. Uber and Ola cabs or trucks and buses). It is mandatory for all truck / taxi drivers to have a commercial driving license to drive such commercial vehicles.
6. Military vehicles follow a unique numbering system unlike any other license plate numbers.
The numbers are registered under the Ministry of Defence, New Delhi. The first/third character is an upward-pointing arrow, known as a Broad Arrow, used in many parts of the British Commonwealth. The two digits succeeding the arrow show the year in which the Military procured the vehicle. This type of number plate has 11digits.
So in this way you can see that how efficiently the allocation of number plate is done by the government. Perhaps this is the reason that a traffic police constable can recognises a vehicle after seeing the number plate alone. This number system has been developed to run the country's traffic administration properly.
