Thane BJP Stakes Claim to Mayor’s Post

Thane: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has formally staked its claim to the Mayor’s post in the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC), asserting that it contested the recent civic elections as part of an alliance and emerged victorious in 28 seats.

Senior BJP leader and MLC Niranjan Davkhare said that, as a key constituent of the ruling alliance, the party has a legitimate right to claim the Mayor’s post. He added that the BJP’s electoral performance clearly strengthens its demand for a fair share in important civic positions, including the Mayor’s office.
