Thane: The construction of the elevated road from Saket to Anandnagar by the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) along the Eastern Express Highway is underway. For this work, cement pillars are being erected near the Anandnagar railway bridge. Due to the work, commuters will face huge traffic jam on Monday.

It took 25 to 30 minutes to cover a distance of just 10 minutes. There was also congestion on internal routes. This work is likely to continue for about a week. Therefore, those traveling to Mumbai for work may have to face congestion for a week.

Thousands of vehicles travel towards Mumbai via the Eastern Expressway from Thane, Kalyan, Bhiwandi, Nashik and Samruddhi Highway. The number of vehicles belonging to employees is also high. To reduce the traffic pressure on the highway, an elevated road is being constructed from Saket Bridge to Anandnagar in Kopri through the MMRDA.

For this work, excavations have been done at various places along the Mumbai-bound route. This is affecting the traffic system on the highway. Cement pillars will be erected near the Anandnagar railway bridge on the highway. For this, the work of digging pits along the road is underway. The workers had to bear the consequences of this work on Monday morning.

There was a massive traffic jam on the Mumbai-bound route. Due to this, queues of vehicles were formed at Tin Hat Naka, Pachpakhadi, and Cadbury Junction areas. Since it took at least 25 to 30 minutes for a distance of just 10 minutes, many people could not reach their workplace on time. BEST buses were also stuck in this traffic jam. Due to this, the employees who were leaving for Mumbai were in trouble.

Some drivers opted for the internal route of Thane city to avoid the traffic jam on the highway. But the internal route also had an increase in the load of vehicles and caused traffic jams. The traffic jam here was relieved to some extent after 1 pm. The traffic police said that it may take a week for the MMRDA to erect the pillars. Therefore, the employees are likely to have to bear the consequences of this work for a week.
