Soon, TMC To Repair Over 500 Inactive Wells

THANE: The Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) will soon repair the over 500 wells and 1,700 bores lying inactive within city limits as an alternative source of water supply and to ensure citizens do not face a crisis next year.

The decision was taken in the general body on Wednesday following discussions over the calling attention motion by NCP corporator and leader of opposition Milind Patil over the imminent shortage to be faced next year and questioning the preparedness of the TMC.

Mayor Meenakshi Shinde directed the civic body to revive these alternate sources of water.

Meanwhile, the issue of Shahi dam was again raised in the House wherein both the Sena and NCP blamed each other for delay in construction of the reservoir and its allocation for Thane. tnn.
