357 new coronavirus cases in Mumbai, 11 deaths

In Mumbai, 357 new coronavirus patients were detected on Friday, taking the tally of cases in the city to 4,589, while the death toll rose to 179 with 11 succumbing to the infection. As per a BMC statement, 359 suspected patients were also admitted to various hospitals. The number of recovered patients rose to 595, with 122 persons being discharged from hospitals since Thursday night, the BMC said. On Thursday, the city had reported 478 new COVID-19 cases and eight deaths.
In other parts of Maharashtra, seven patients died during the day. The state tally (including Mumbai) stands at 6,817 and the death toll at 301, a health official said.
The number of Covid-19 cases in Thane municipal limits reached 198 on Friday, with 20 people testing positive, while the figure touched 103 in Navi Mumbai civic limits. The 20 new cases in Thane city include four children in the 5-12 age group and a 70-year-old woman, said TMC spokesperson Sandeep Malavi. Officials said an inter-ministerial central team is expected to visit Thane in connection with the outbreak, which has recorded six deaths so far. Meanwhile in the areas under the Mira-Bhayandar Municipal Corporation, there were three positive cases reported, with nine recoveries.
Six people tested positive in the Kalyan-Dombivali civic limits, taking the total number of cases here to 114. A statement from Kalyan Lok Sabha MP Srikant Shinde stated he had donated 10 ventilators each to Thane and Kalyan-Dombivali civic bodies. In the neighbouring Palghar district, the number of cases stood at 123.
