Maharashtra: Woman, 2 children run over by train in Palghar

PALGHAR: An unidentified woman and two minor children were allegedly run over by a speeding train at Boisar in Palghar district on Sunday.

The Palghar government railway police said that the woman, around 35 years, a four year old girl and a one year old boy were found on the tracks near Khaira Phata at around 11.30am.

Eye witnesses said that the women and the two children were run over by a speeding long distance train heading to Mumbai.

Police said that it is not clear if the women committed suicide by jumping in front of the train or it was a case of trespassing.

The body of the woman and the girl was badly mutilated while the one year old boy was found lying dead at a distance alongside the track.

The children are believed to be of the woman. No identity has been found on them.

A case of accidental death has been registered. Police is looking into missing complaints. Closed circuit television (CCTV) images at the Boisar and neighbouring stations are being checked for leads.
