Maharashtra extends lockdown till June 30 but restrictions eased under 'Mission Begin Again'

MUMBAI: Even as the Maharashtra government extended the lockdown in the entire state till June 30, it has announced a phase wise 'unlocking' of the restrictions in the red-zones like Mumbai from June 3.

As per the 'Mission Begin Again', the state has allowed outdoor physical activities like walking, jogging in open spaces and society ground from June 3 between 5am to 7pm. However, group activities and indoor stadium activities will not be allowed. All these activities will be allowed in areas except the containment zones.

Also, from June 3, self employed personnels like plumbers, technicians, electricians can resume work. Also, all government offices except those that provide essential services will begin working with 15% capacity of 15 staff members whichever is more.

The second phase starts from June 5 and all shops expect in malls and market complexes will be allowed to function on alternate days, shops on one side of the road can function on day day and the other side the next day. Trial rooms for clothes and apparels will not be permitted and also return or exchange of these items will not be allowed.

Taxi and autos with just two passengers can be used for essential services.

On June 8, the third phase, private offices with 10% can be resumed. Also, in non-red zones where most of these activities are already permitted, inter-district travel is still restricted.

Despite the Central government allowing malls and religious places to be opened, Maharashtra has not allowed them to open as yet.
